Following on from years of success with the Epson C7500 label printer. Epson have taken industrial label printing to the next level with the release of the Epson C8000e.
Available in two versions (Matt Black and Gloss Black) like it’s predecessor. The Epson C8000e is designed for high speed, full colour label printing on an industrial scale. Short or high volume label printing at speeds of up to 300mm/sec will allow businesses to take control of their in-house label production.
Some of the feed back from owners of the C7500 was that the paper path could get a build up of dust over time and the print head would then service a lot. The paper path in the new C8000e has been changed to combat this. With less star wheels and instead a vacuum solution to help guide the material with less contact with the label. This allows for a cleaner paper path and therefore less dust being produced. This sounds like a small thing but it’s a big detail.
Gloss or Matt – There are two models of the C8000e. MK (Matt) and BK (Gloss). This means the black in supplied with each machine changes and cannot be changed back once you commit. The reasoning behind this is for chemical label printing. Matt black ink combined with the correct material gives BS5609 print durability and is ideal for those where durability is key to what they are printing. Although the gloss (BK version) still offers great durability, it also offers better vibrancy in the print for a “jazzier” finish.
Print Quality – 600 x 1200dpi print resolution in full colour produces outstanding labels. Also included is Epson’s Nozzle Verification Technology (NVT) which prevent misprints, as well as spot colour matching and ICC profiling for easy and precise colour management. This alone takes the C8000e up to the next level when it comes to print quality.
Connectivity is also a key feature on the Epson C8000e with support for Windows, MAC IOS and Linux OS as well as Ethernet, USB and optional WIFI connections. Native driver support for all of the big software packages is also there from the likes of NiceLabel & Bartender to name a few. However you’re also able to integrate the C8000e into your existing solution should you need to.
Bulk Ink Tanks – The Epson C8000e comes with new bulk ink tanks that are bags rather than chunky plastic cartridges. This is a greener option from Epson that is easy to replace as well as easier and lighter to ship and store. For industrial printing you need high volumes of continuous print and these bulk inks provide that.
Our Summary – If you’re printing no more than 108mm wide labels in high volume then the Epson C8000e might be for you. Full colour “edge to edge” label printing at speeds of up to 300mm/sec is impressive and while using pigment inks means the durability of print is great.
